cha·os the·o·ry - Chaos theory explains that within the visible randomness of complex, chaotic systems, there are inherent repetition, patterns, self-organization,
interconnectedness, self-similarity, and constant feedback loops.
Chaos Theory: Open Call for Artists
Something big is stirring at the Brimstone.
For 2026, Chaos Theory: Larger than Life invites artists to focus on bigger, bolder art. Larger than you usually work, the big picture, the whole shebang. Big monsters, big ideas, big worlds -- you name it, we want to see it.
As usual, this year's theme will also encompass chaos in all its glory. Any work can fit the theme, but especially anything in the following categories: pop culture, nostalgia, anime, gaming, and more!
About the Show
Since 2008, the Brimstone has hosted Chaos Theory, an annual art show celebrating the loud, nostalgic, pop-culture chaos that defines our creative community. It’s always been an open invitation to geeks, gamers, cosplayers, and artists of every weird and wonderful background.
Immersive Installations & Collaborative Builds
This year, we’ll be hiring additional artists to help bring larger installations and interactive elements to life.
Artist Support & Micro-Grants
To help bring these visions to life, we offer funding for participating artists. Grants may be available for:
-
Framing or printing
-
Supplies for new works created specifically for Larger than Life
-
Installation concepts and build materials
-
Social media / video promotion assistance
Paintings, sculptures, mixed media, digital art, photography, immersive builds, sound, video, performance. If it fits the theme and gives us that feeling of being big, being small, or taking over the world, it belongs here.
Submission Details
Full guidelines, deadlines, and application portal will be declassified in April. Artists are encouraged to apply early, especially for installation proposals requiring grants or collaboration.
