1995 - The Frasch House

by Sybil McNeill

The residence of Herman Frasch, inventor of the Sulphur Mining Process, was built in the early 1900's. This stately two-story home with its shaded verandas and Southern charm soon became the focal point of the Sulphur mining community which grew from the success of Frasch's invention. The Frasch process allowed over nine million tons of sulphur to be extracted making Sulphur the leading mining town in the United States for over two decades. Sybil McNeill's painting of the historic Frasch home commemorates the 100th anniversary of Herman Frasch's process.
