The Brimstone Historical Society Board of Directors has announced the current Executive Director, Chassidy DuPont, has accepted a position with the Greater Baton Rouge Industrial Alliance. The Board voted to extend an offer to the current Assistant Director and Historian, Thomas Trahan.  They are pleased to say he has accepted and will begin his duties on August 24th.

Some of the major accomplishments attributed to Chassidy during the last 2 years include; The 2nd Saturdays in Sulphur Program, the expansion and continued success of The Holiday House, the archiving of the museums artifacts and the acceptance of the Brimstone Museum into the American Association of Museum's (AAM) Museum Accreditation Program (MAP).  She also brought some great cultural, artistic, and historical exhibits to the facility during her time here.  Although she was not a Sulphur native, Chassidy was very happy to be welcomed into our community and will always remember her time here with a smile.  Chassidy knows she is leaving the position in very capable hands.

Thomas Trahan has been the Assistant to the Director and was recently promoted to Historian.  Thom, a graduate of Sulphur High School has a Bachelor of the Arts in History with a minor in Education from Louisiana College.  Thom is married to Katie Cupp Trahan, also a graduate of Sulphur High and Louisiana College, who currently teaches at D.S. Perkins.  Thom is looking forward to being an integral part of the future of the Brimstone Museum.  He feels that his degree in History and especially his interest in local history will be an asset to the organization.  He has been instrumental in cataloging and re-organizing the current artifacts and in fact, has a temporary Sulphur History Exhibit of his own design that will open to the public in the Brimstone Depot beginning August 29th.  This "mini" exhibit is a display of some important Sulphur Mines artifacts, including photos, letters and maps.  Thom is looking forward to continuing the current art focus in the Henning Cultural Center, the excellent children's programs and moving forward with new history programs at the Brimstone Museum.
